Welcome to second grade! My name is Ms. King and I am a second grade teacher at Belmont Elementary School. I hope your summer was fun and you are ready to get started for this school year.
I relocated to the Northern Virginia area in February 2009 from Pittsburgh, PA. I recently graduated from Duquesne University, where I received a Masters degree in Education. I have always in enjoyed teaching and learning with children.

I have an open door policy and parent communication is very important to me. Please make sure to check your child’s agenda every night. If you have any concerns, questions, or you just want to notify me please do not hesitate to contact me. It is going to be a great year!
Slideshows Class Announcements Thank YouI wanted to send a special thank you to all Second Grade Parents who volunteered for our National Zoo Field Trip. The students had a wonderful time. I am sorry that we did not get more time due to circumstances beyond our control; however, the students enjoyed the day!

Students need to be filling out the reading log with books from school or books from home. Reading logs are still being collected and still need to be completed from all students. Thank you for all that you do! ~ Ms. king Trouble Viewing HomeworkIf you are experiencing delays in the SchoolFusion automated email process, parents and students can view the most recent homework and student activity updates by logging in to our school Web site and clicking on “Recent Activity” or “My Family.”
Friday FoldersWe are trying something new this year with Friday Homework Folders. We will place all of the homework in a folder on Friday and send home with you child each Friday. The homework will not be due until the following Friday. We are hoping that this helps the students complete and turn in their homework.
